Haan, kehne ko to bahut waqt ho gaya,
Magar…
Jab se yah beeti hai,
Farewell lagta hai — kal hi ki baat hai.
Kal hi to hum saath the,
Kal hi to gale lagaya tha sabko,
Kal hi to saath bitha kar mazaak uda rahe the ek doosre ka,
Kal hi to kaha tha —
“Haan, milte rahenge dobara…”
Magar…
Kal dobara kabhi “aaj” nahi ban payega,
Vah kal… aise lagta hai ki kal hi ki baat thi,
Magar…
Saal beet jaayenge,
Dost badal jaayenge,
Kuchh bhool jaayenge,
Kuchh naye dost banaayenge,
Aur kuchh lapata ho jaayenge —
Apni-apni alag duniya mein.

हाँ, कहने को तो बहुत वक़्त हो गया,
मगर…
जब से यह बीती है,

कल ही तो हम साथ थे,

कल ही तो साथ बिठाकर मज़ाक उड़ा रहे थे एक-दूसरे का,
कल ही तो कहा था —
“हाँ, मिलते रहेंगे दोबारा…”

कल दोबारा कभी “आज” नहीं बन पाएगा,
वह कल… ऐसे लगता है कि कल ही की बात थी,

साल बीत जाएंगे,
दोस्त बदल जाएंगे,
